Jan. 21 (Bloomberg) — Japanese demand for bank loans fell over the past three months, a central bank survey showed today. An index of demand for loans to businesses was at minus 17 in January from October, the Bank of Japan said in a quarterly survey of loan officers in Tokyo.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Bank of America Corp. said Wednesday it lost $5.2 billion during the final three months of 2009 as consumers struggled to make their mortgage and credit card payments and the bank repaid its government bailout money.

Jan. 20 (Bloomberg) — Romanian central bank Vice Governor Cristian Popa said that the chance of the International Monetary Fund resuming the flow of funds from its $30 billion loan is “extremely good.”

MUMBAI, Jan 20 (Reuters) – Private sector lender Yes Bank on Wednesday posted a 19 percent rise in Oct-Dec net profit, helped by higher loan growth that pushed up interest income for the bank.
